WHLandscape were appointed by Hills UK Ltd. to undertake a Landscape and Visual Assessment (LVIA) for a housing development of 61 units on 2.95 hectare of land at Blunsdon, alongside the A419 and close to the urban edge of Swindon. The topography of the site and its surrounding suggested that the site would be prominent. However, the urban context of the site and dense tree cover to the north means that it is actually well contained.
The LVIA was undertaken at an early stage in the planning process to help guide the site layout and ascertain the developable area. An indicative landscape strategy for the boundary planting was submitted with the LVIA to ensure that the development could be integrated into its surrounding context and provide landscape and ecological enhancement.
